Doctor
Vincent Marinkovich was my doctor. Other doctors, including some
very good ones, were not able to recognize and properly treat me
and my children for the health problems which resulted from our
toxic mold exposure. Dr. Marincovich successfully diagnosed and
treated us. He may very well have saved my life. At one point we
sat in his office, and I told him I was going to research how toxic
mold was able to do what it did to my body. That I was going to
collate all that research onto a web site, to help other mold
exposure patients shortcut their journey back to good health. He
recommended several books from those on the shelf in his office.
Unknown to him I had been working hard on my web site for about
four years when he died in September, 2007. I kept wanting to get
it farther along before I had him look at it. I wanted him to be
proud of what I had put together. I wanted to go with him to
videotape his talks. Then put together a series to educate other
doctors. I waited too long. But, I believe he would like what I
have put together. I hope my efforts will in some way extend his
dedicated efforts. For Doctor Vincent Marinkovich was a true
pioneer in environmental medicine, specializing in how toxic molds
affect the human body. I know he would want his efforts to not stop
with his untimely death. For he has a great deal of my
respect.

According to
The Institute of Functional Medicine, June,
2008 edition of Functional Medicine Inspirer;
"VINCENT A. MARINKOVICH,
MD
We have lost a dear friend, mentor, and stalwart advocate for
patients with chronic, complex, and confounding medical problems.
Vince Marinkovich was born November 22, 1932, in San Pedro,
California. He was a first-generation American, born of parents
from the Dalmatian Coast of Croatia. From an economically and
educationally humble background, he distinguished himself in high
school, which prompted his advancement to California Institute of
Technology (BS in 1955) and then on to Harvard Medical School (MD
in 1959). He completed his internship and residency in pediatrics
at Johns Hopkins University in 1961. Vince did post-doctorate work
at Oxford University in England and then at King's College London
(biochemical genetics). He returned to Caltech in 1962 on an NIH
Fellowship to study immunology. He moved north to Stanford with an
appointment in the department of Pediatrics and was later appointed
Director of Allergy and Immunology in the Pediatrics Department at
Stanford.
Dr. Marinkovich integrated clinical work in his allergy private
practice in Menlo Park with research in advanced technology for
testing multiple allergens. He distinguished himself in clinical
research focused on food and mold hypersensitivity. During this
last decade, he served as a faculty member at the Institute for
Functional Medicine (IFM) in Gig Harbor, Washington. His advocacy
for patients as an expert witness in the forensic area of mold
hypersensitivity clearly demonstrated the heroic qualities of his
spirit. He was loved and respected by his patients, as well as
those of us at IFM who had the pleasure of teaching with him. His
presence with us will be sorely missed."

Thank you Dr. Marinkovich for your dedication to pioneering the
advancement of environmental medicine to help those who have and
are suffering from toxic mold exposures. Many of us may very well
owe our continuation of life to you. Certainly our quality of life.
You will be missed but, not forgotten. Daniel Mark Norris Newton
