Global Warming

Global warming is altering the delicate balance of nature in many ways. As the environment warms up it accellerates the growth of mold and other fungi. Warmth is one of the factors mold and other fungi need for ideal growth conditions. While warming conditions harm the environments required by many species it helps microbes such as fungi to grow. This provides a double wammy for many species as it makes it more difficult for them to survive and also helps the microbes which harm them.

On February 15 and 16, 2007 scientists from around the world met in Atlanta " to organize a worldwide effort to stem the deaths" of frogs and other amphibians around the world from a killer fungus. This has far reaching effects on control of insects, effects on the food chain and public health. Read the article to the right for details.

The bottom line is this. Global warming will encourage growth of fungi and other microbes throughout the world, accellerating concentrations to levels never before seen on Earth. This will have far reaching effects to the health of many species of plants and animals. You can expect to see a significant effect on the human race if this accelleration outpaces the human body's ability to develope immune defenses against them.
